He has translated Hipólito and Íon, and has published literary criticism in the reviews Journal of Hellenic Studies, Classical Quarterly, Euphrosyne, Humanitas, and Colóquio-Letras, as well as collaborating in the newspapers Independente, Expresso, and Público. A member of the corpo docente of the Faculdade de Letras, Universidade de Lisboa from 1990 to 2009, he then became a member of the corpo docente of the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra. Born in Lisbon in 1963, Lourenço spent his childhood in Oxford.
